Jens Schwarz, born in 1968 in Potsdam, approached art from various perspectives.  He studied "Art Plastiques" at the Sorbonne in Paris, art history at the University in Munich and Photo Design at the Arts Academy in Munich. This diversity is detected in his multifaceted works, somewhere between documentation and installation, which are buried under titles like "Stasi", "Geklauter Bilder" (Stolen Pictures) or “Das Blaue vom Himmel (Heaven and Earth)".
In the series, "Spielorte" (Sport Fields), the space is the universe and the world is the football, or better put, amateur football. Is the distance from which he photographs the football pitches lurking or courteous? They lay imbedded in the landscapes like societal peripheries and are social meeting points, space of communication and interaction, of the seen and worthy of being seen.
In Jens Schwarz’s pictures it’s obvious. The sports fields don’t simply depict delicate choreographies, but also rules that one must accept after the game and in life with each other and against each other.
